FAQ

Good to know

Everything you might want to ask before booking a trek with us. Can't find your answer? Just get in touch.

Fitness & Preparation

Do I need previous trekking experience?

It depends on the trek. Our moderate trips — Fairy Meadows, Haramosh Valley, Rakaposhi Base Camp and Saral & Dudipatsar Lakes — are suitable for fit first-timers with no prior trekking experience. Our more challenging routes, like Nangma Valley, are best approached with some prior multi-day hiking experience. If you're not sure, just ask — we'll honestly recommend the right trek for your fitness level and schedule.

How fit do I need to be?

For the longer treks you should be able to hike 6–7 hours a day on consecutive days carrying a light daypack, on uneven glacial terrain. Regular cardio (hiking, running, cycling) and time on your feet in the months before your trip are the best preparation. Our porters carry the heavy loads, so you only need to manage yourself and a daypack.

Safety

Is it safe to travel in Northern Pakistan?

Gilgit-Baltistan is one of the most welcoming and hospitable regions in Asia, and tourism here has grown strongly in recent years. We work only with experienced local guides and crews, follow current local guidance, keep group sizes small, and stay in touch with families and emergency contacts throughout. We'll brief you fully before and during your trip.

What about altitude sickness?

Our itineraries are designed with sensible ascent rates and built-in acclimatisation and contingency days. Our guides are trained to recognise the signs of altitude illness, monitor the group daily, and carry a first-aid kit. The golden rules are to ascend gradually, stay hydrated, and tell your guide immediately if you feel unwell. For the highest treks we strongly recommend insurance that covers high-altitude rescue.

Permits & Visa

Do I need a visa and trekking permits?

Most visitors need a Pakistan visa — the online e-visa system is straightforward, and we can provide an invitation/booking letter to support your application. Some high-altitude treks near restricted zones require trekking permits and national-park fees; where these apply, they're included in your trip price and arranged by us. We'll tell you exactly what's needed for your chosen trek.

Booking & Payment

What's included in the price?

Each trek page lists exactly what's included and excluded. As a rule, our prices cover in-country transport, accommodation and camping, an English-speaking licensed guide and full crew, meals on trek, and permits/park fees. They typically exclude international flights, your Pakistan visa, travel and rescue insurance, personal gear and tips. Customized trips are quoted individually.

How do booking and payment work?

It starts with a conversation. Send us an inquiry with your preferred trek and dates, and we'll confirm availability and answer your questions. Once you're happy, we secure your place with a deposit and arrange the balance before your trip. We don't take card payments on this website — we'll share secure payment options directly once your itinerary is confirmed.

Trips & Groups

Can you customize a trip or arrange private departures?

Absolutely — it's what we love doing. We can adjust any itinerary's length, pace, dates and comfort level, combine treks with cultural tours, and run private departures for couples, families, friends, students and clubs. Tell us your interests, fitness, budget and dates on our custom trip page and we'll design something just for you.

Do you welcome solo travellers, students and women?

Yes — warmly. Many of our guests travel solo, and we're proud of how safe and looked-after they tell us they feel. We offer flexible options for students and budget-conscious adventurers, and we're happy to discuss arrangements that make women travellers comfortable. Just let us know what you need.
